John Lennon said, “Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright it’s not the end.”
I could add this to the many things that John Lennon said that reminds us that we have the power, right, imagination, and ability to shift people, places, and things towards good and away from the precipice of disaster.
In the midst of the lying, cheating, and manipulation by the people we are supposed to look up to as leaders, we have to individually take back our own power and do good in spite of the craziness all around us.
Watching people helping people during the devastating disasters that have traveled across the country, from floods, to fires, to mass shootings, we know that it is people and their basic drive to be good and kind that can change the atmosphere of lies, positioning, and greed that has become so terrible only the people who have gotten used to it can stand it.
If you can stand it, you have been in it too long.
If you can’t stand it, it is time to do something about it.
We rush to save people from fires, floods, and shootings, yet sit back and do nothing as individuals and corporations rip through the fabric of society in order to make themselves richer and more powerful.
They lie about what they are doing, and some people actually believe them. I can’t blame them for wanting to believe the lies. It’s a mess. They are hoping that these people are telling them the truth in some way because something must be done.
But, it can’t be done using the same methods that got us here in the first place. Greed does not produce good. Lies do not make truth.
As it gets worse, many of us say, “What I do won’t make a difference.”
Maybe not on a big scale it won’t.
But one person rescuing just one person from a flood, or dragging a person to safety is big enough. One person speaking up is big enough, one person taking action.
If each of us does just one thing, no matter how small, to speak out and take action against what is wrong, things will change. We will reach a tipping point, and once that happens, the lies and greed are doomed
Speak up. Speak up. Speak up. Take action. There are so many ways to do this. Pick one that works for you.
We can’t become a society that is so overwhelmed by so much that is wrong, that we ignore all the lies and corruption going on and pretend that it is not happening.
Each of us does things differently. Find a way that works for you.
We are the majority. We are. Seriously.
We have got to stop thinking we are the minority and have no power. We have to overcome our fear, or at least live with it, and do something.
There are people using the power of the chaos theory to confuse and stun us. There are people lying to us, trusting that we won’t do anything about it.
But, we can wake up. Because it’s not the end.
It won’t be the end until good overrides evil.
We need to choose people to lead us based on their willingness to sacrifice their personal power for the good of everyone. Not on their looks. Not on their smooth tongue and charming ways. But on their innate unyielding goodness.
We have leaders in office who have no goodness leading them. That is enough to take action to remove them from office, by whatever legal way is possible.
We can’t sit back and let greed and meanness continue to run the news, social media, or our government. We can’t sit back and do nothing and hope it will all go away. It won’t without you and me standing up against it. Standing for good.
It’s always possible to do something about what is not right. It has been done before. We can do it again. And now is the time. There is no time to wait.
Be courageous. Speak up. Take action. Start with good. End with good.
